“There is nothing more beautiful than finding your course as you believe you bob aimlessly in the current. Wouldn’t you know that your path was there all along, waiting for you to knock, waiting for you to become. Your path is your character defining itself more and more everyday like a photograph coming into focus.”

– Jodie Foster

Starting this college journey, a new page in my book of life had me at all sorts of feelings and emotions. I was at this crossroads, with a whole lot of hopeful potential and all the nerves. I had a canvas, a blank canvas of college in front of me. Ready to be filled with colors, themes, details. I came in as an undecided major knowing only that my goal was to attend law school. I aspire to be a voice of representation and to use my skills and my place working towards the betterment of our society, our worlds. However, I didn't know how to get there. Freshmen year was for trying new things, to take classes in different areas and hoping that one would appeal to me. After exploring with different majors, I found myself drawn to the workings of our economy and how business was ubiquitous. That knowledge sparked my interest, I believe it is an education one can do a lot with and helps to understand how our world runs. And so the beginning of sophomore, I found some focus in my canvas filled with colors of freshmen year.

And from then on, the path was uphill, from an undecided major to a newfound interest in business, to sticking to a commitment for the field of law and collecting lessons through it all. Challenges grew, but with that so did my conviction of who I was, the values I embodied, and what I wanted to do. My hope, simply put, at the beginning was to learn and to grow and to continue doing that every step of the way. Now, when I see this near complete picture, I see those same words embedded in the struggles, in the triumphs, in the journey complete with the sketch marks, coloring outside of the lines, and changing of courses. Ultimately, it's to learn and to grow as one canvas leads to another.
